The school generally serves the Whittington village community, the Married Quarters of Whittington barracks and a wide sweep of the surrounding countryside. It caters for 3+ aged children in its Nursery and pupils between ages 4 and 11 in the Main School. The school has a maximum admission limit for each year group of 45 pupils although the average number of pupils per year group is presently in the region of 40.

The school is situated in open country on the edge of Whittington Village and is presently housed in buildings which date from 1967 with additional accommodation which was added in 1976. Recent additions include an ICT suite, a library and 2 replacement classrooms.

The site also includes a junior play ground, infant play ground, playing fields and an environmental area which was established with the co-operation of staff, children, parents and other individuals and groups. A new adventure play area (funded by the PTA) is also a very new addition next to the infant play ground.
