Instrumental Teaching
Instrumental teaching is available in school to Key Stage 2 children, this includes string, brass and wood wind teaching. All Key Stage 2 children are offered the opportunity of receiving instrumental teaching. If there is a high demand the music teachers hold auditions to find those children who they feel will benefit most from the tuition offered.
An annual charge, which is reviewed each year, is made for the hire of instruments for home practice as a contribution to the costs of repairs and replacement. In 1997 Governors agreed that in order to fund and expand the range of instrumental tuition offered, parents would be asked to contribute to the cost of this activity. This is a voluntary contribution, currently £16 per term, per pupil. However, no child would be excluded from this activity in the absence of a contribution.
Any child learning an instrument needs to have the commitment to practise in their own time. |
