Autumn Term 2024

This term we've met with Sports Council and Sports Leaders to discuss the responsibilities of their roles and to gather important pupil voice opinions about PE, Sports and Physical Activity within our school. We have also purchased and sorted new equipment for playtimes to help increase the activity levels. This term we have competed in a range of sports tournaments, including football, where our team have qualified top of the Lichfield and Burntwood district! Huge Well Done to them, and we look forward to the county final in January!

Our Year 4 children have completed their swimming unit at the Friary Swimming baths and within school children have been working on a range of PE units both with their class teachers and Mr Hides. Our Sports Leaders have organised and run our fundraising event for St. Giles Hospice, all the children took part in the Rudolf Run and we raised over £1700! Thank you to everyone who helped raise these vital funds for St. Giles!

Spring Term 2025

We have been working with Sports Council this half-term to begin to plan some intra-house competitions which will begin next half-term and allow all children to earn house points for their house, with the winners being announced in our Celebration assembly.

Our year 5/6 football team represented our school fantastically in the Staffordshire County final! They drew a match and lost the second, which meant they didn't make it out of the group stages, but we were super impressed with their attitude, sportsmanship and performances. They did us proud!

We are thrilled to announce that we have been awarded the Association for PE Quality Mark - with Distinction in recognition of all we do for Physical Education, School Sports and Physical Activity. PESSPA is a huge part of our school ethos and we, collectively, appreciate the importance of teaching our children the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle and being physically literate. We always aim to provide our children with as many opportunities as possible to experience a variety of sports and physical activity. It is absolutely fantastic to have our hard work recognised. This award was awarded following an application and validation process where we were visited by one of the AfPE validators. She was so impressed when speaking to our Sports council and sports leaders and by what she saw when she visited. Well done team Whittington!

Our Sports Council and Sports Leaders have been busy with Mr Hides to plan and organise an intra-house competition which has been completed at the end of the spring term, results are coming soon!

Summer 2025

As the summer term kicks off, we enter our busiest time for PE and School Sports with lots of competitions, Sports Day and our annual Sport & Wellbeing Week on the horizon!!
