Every Friday morning one of the year
3/4 classes goes to the Friary High School and is
taught to swim with floats, rings and arm bands provided leading to County and A.S.A. Awards. The children go swimming
for 10 weeks each academic year.
Swimming and water safety is a statutory
activity at Key Stage 2 in order that pupils achieve the teaching requirements
outlined in the programme of study i.e. pupils should be able to swim unaided
over a distance of at least 25m.
All children
must wear a swimming hat and remove all jewellery before
entering the pool. Boys must wear trunks and
NOT swimming shorts. Girls should wear suitable one piece
swimming costumes. If children have verucas they MUST wear a veruca sock which
can be purchased from any leisure centre/swimming pool.
Swimming hats with the school logo can be
purchased from the school office at a cost of £1.00 |
