| Teeth Part of our science topic this term was "teeth" and finding out what teeth were made of, what different types of teeth there were and lots of investigations into teeth. We investigated what was the worst drink for our teeth, by using the shell of an egg to symbolise the tooth. We all had to predict which drink we thought was going to be the worst. Our results were very interesting, as we almost all thought the drink would be cola, but imagine our surprise when it turned out to be orange juice. We found out that orange juice has an acid in it, with can attack our teeth if we don't clean them! We also did an investigation using disclosing tablets. We waited until after lunchtime and then brushed our teeth. After we had predicted where we thought the plaque would be on our teeth, we used the disclosing tablets. Then we used mirrors to see where the plaque was on our teeth. We were quite surprised to see the areas where the plaque was!!! We learnt a great deal about teeth and even had a special visitor from a local dentist who spoke to us about the proper ways to brush our teeth!!! | |
