Kate Bryant (Governor)

Kate Bryant -Governor Bio

Current membership and responsibilities:

I am link governor for Early Years and Curriculum

Governor experience:

During my time working in schools, I have sat on numerous governing bodies as a staff governor, with responsibility for Finance and safeguarding, as well as a senior leader.  I have spend the last 17 years in senior leadership in schools, most recently taking up the role of Headteacher at Branston Locks Primary School in March 2024.

In previous roles, I have participated in LGB meetings to present data, safeguarding and financial information as well as exploring curriculum and assessment with the governing body.

As a headteacher, I have an intimate understanding of the role of governors and what strong governance and leadership looks like. I know what a privilege it is to be part of a school community that strives for the best for its pupils, families and the wider school community. Working within the JTMAT allows me to bring my insight to the LGB of Whittington Primary School and support the team in their drive for success.

Professional Experience:

I have been Headteacher at Branston Locks Primary and Nursery School for over two years and as part of this role, I am adept at working with governors to be a critical friend to the school, whilst also supporting them in their day to day provision for children and the local community.

Personal Interests:

Recently, I have become a Brownie leader in the village in which I live. I find it incredibly rewarding and so much fun! Each week is different and we’ve done everything from flower arranging to cinema visits, making Lego movies to flipping pancakes!

I am also a really avid reader and you can often find me with my nose stuck in a book – especially a good thriller or murder mystery.

My family are my world. I have two children, who are still in primary school themselves and every day they inspire me – I believe that what I want and expect for my own children should be what I want and expect for every child. My husband is head of English at a secondary school and whenever he isn’t teaching, he’s singing in one of his bands – you can often find me and the kids dancing to indie rock at one of his gigs!
