E-Safety Tips For Pupils

Make sure you know and use the SMART rules!

Safe, Meeting, Accepting, Reliable, Tell

  • Think before you post. It is very easy to post a comment or photo in anger or frustration. By the time you remove it many people have seen it and the damage is done.
  • Think about what is and isn't OK to say in a post or tweet. Remember that messages online can be misconstrued and misunderstood. What starts out as a joke can escalate quickly and can't be taken back.
  • Online friendship: only add people you know in the offline world. Think about privacy settings.
  • Know how to report - most sites allow you to report a comment or user by clicking on a report button or sending the site an email. If you have concerns about cyberbullying then you should speak to a trusted adult.
